Lost foam casting (LFC) process has several advantages compared to conventional sand-casting techniques. At low melting point in Al and Mg alloys, a large number of gaseous products are formed during removal of foam pattern which increases porosity in castings. In this study, (a) refractory coating on the pattern and (b) mould filling in vacuum have been investigated
